Standardized coefficients in multilevel DSEM
DSEM can be used for studying how psychological variables influence themselves and each other across time, for a specific individual. Multilevel extensions can be used to also investigate individual differences in these processes across multiple persons. However, the estimated regression coefficients that result should be interpreted with care. In this context, I will consider the issue of standardization; Standardized coefficients should be used rather than unstandardized coefficients for directly comparing the strength of cross-lagged effects. I will discuss why, and how this should be done in the context of multilevel DSEM.
